Legal Stuff
Please pardon my paranoia. I seem to be in the habit of posting short sections of other people’s work — from my favourite novels, for example.
If you are concerned that I may be in breach of your copyright; or the copyright of someone that you represent; or if you have some other legal issue with something I’ve published online: please read on for a moment.
If you think that I have treated you unfairly for any reason at all, please email me or add a comment to the article that bothers you. I have no wish to be hardheaded; if you can persuade me that you represent the author, I’ll replace the quoted text with something else whether I think you have a case in law or not.
On the other hand: I Am Not A Lawyer, but:
- I think that these quoted sections count as “fair use” in both US and UK law. They are there for the purposes of review and criticism (usually abject praise, in fact).
- Also, I think that the quoted sections are “non-substantial”, that is, short and don’t spoil the quoted work if you want to run off and buy it.
- I don’t make any money from doing this at all. I’m not even running adverts.
